Real Madrid announced on Monday that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has suffered an injury.
According to the club, “Following tests carried out today on our player Thibaut Courtois by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the long abductor muscle in his right leg. His recovery will be assessed.”
The club did not specify the expected time for his return, underscoring that further evaluations are needed to determine his recovery timeline.
It was gathered that he suffered the injury during the 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday shortly after his teammate Federico Valverde suffered a similar issue in the same match.
The injury sidelines him for Belgium’s matches against Italy on November 14 and Israel on November 17.
The club will continue monitoring his recovery over the international break, with Spanish media projecting a minimum two-week absence.
Courtois gives Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens’ potential to make his national team debut for Belgium.
