Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed that wearing the Portugal national team jersey still fills him with “the same pride, the same passion, and the same sense of responsibility as on the first day,” as the squad prepare to begin what he called “a new chapter.”

“Every time we wear this jersey, we feel the same pride, the same passion, and the same sense of responsibility as on the first day,” the 41-year-old forward wrote, adding, “Tomorrow begins a new chapter. We worked hard to reach this moment, and now it’s time to give everything for our Country, and for all the Portuguese communities that support us here and around the world. Believe it as we do! #VAIDARPORTUGAL”

Ronaldo’s message underlines his continued leadership role within the national side and appeals directly to Portugal’s global fanbase ahead of the team’s 2026 World Cup debut match.
