Sowore accuses APC, Tinubu of long-term persecution

Human rights activist and AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore has accused past and present Nigerian leaders.

Sowore in a statement on Monday singled out the All Progressives Congress (APC) government under President Bola Tinubu of systematically ruining the country and personally targeting him, his family and associates.

“The people who have ruined Nigeria for decades, and today, the All Progressives Congress @officialapc government under Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT, have repeatedly directed their persecution at me, my family, my comrades, my colleagues, and my friends,” Sowore wrote on Monday.

He detailed a series of alleged abuses he says were aimed at derailing his life and activism, twice being expelled from the University of Lagos, seizure of his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, repeated confiscation of his international passport which he says occurred “using wicked judges and lawless DSS” imprisonment, prosecution, assaults, and attempts on his life.

“They targeted my education, resulting in my expulsion from the University of Lagos @UnilagNigeria twice. They seized my @officialnyscng certificate, hoping I would never secure employment after graduation,” he wrote.

He added, “They have repeatedly confiscated my travel documents, especially my international passport (using wicked judges and lawless DSS), keeping me separated from my family for extended periods.”

Sowore also accused security services and unnamed actors of more violent actions, saying his brother was murdered and that he has been shot at and harassed.

“They have imprisoned me, prosecuted me, assaulted me, shot at me, harassed those around me, murdered my brother, and tried to break my resolve. But they have failed.

“Persecution cannot defeat conviction, and these acts will not delay their day of judgment,” he said.
