Activist and African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has condemned the arrest, humiliation and detention of five citizens in Borno State for wearing T-shirts bearing the slogan “Tinubu Must Go.”

In a post on X on Wednesday, Sowore wrote, “I wholeheartedly condemn the unlawful arrest, humiliation, and detention of these citizens for freely expressing their political opposition to the failed Tinubu regime in Borno State.”

He accused Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum and the Nigerian Police of engineering the action, adding that the men were “subsequently secretly arraigned before a magistrate and remanded in prison.”

The five men named by Sowore are Ba’ana Grema, Mustapha Abba, Abacha Muhammed Ali, Adam Umar Gubio and Abdulhamid Mohammed.

“The charges against them must be dropped immediately, and all five citizens must be released from this unjust detention.

“Political opposition is not a crime. Peaceful expression is not a crime. Nigerians must never be imprisoned simply for opposing those in power,” he stated.

He ended the post with the hashtag #TinubuMustGo.
