Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur shared the points in a 1-1 Premier League draw at Old Trafford on Saturday, as Dominic Solanke’s stoppage-time equaliser rescued a valuable point for the visitors despite playing with 10 men.

Bryan Mbeumo broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute for the home side, finishing with a low left-footed shot after a setup from Matheus Cunha.

Spurs’ hopes looked bleak moments later when Rodrigo Bentancur was shown a straight red card around the 78th-79th minute for violent conduct following a clash with Luke Shaw that involved a headbutt.

Yet Roberto De Zerbi’s side refused to fold. In the second minute of added time, Solanke headed home from a Sandro Tonali assist to level the score and secure a late point for the 10 men of Tottenham.

The result leaves both clubs with plenty to ponder early in the 2026/27 season.

Manchester United, managed by Michael Carrick, have endured a mixed start and sit in the mid-table region after another draw.

Tottenham remain near the foot of the table and are still searching for their first league victory of the campaign, making the point at Old Trafford particularly significant.

Mbeumo, who joined United from Brentford in a deal worth up to £71 million in July 2025, continues to justify his big-money move with another important contribution.

The Cameroon international has quickly established himself as a key attacking threat at Old Trafford.

Solanke, a £55m-plus signing from Bournemouth in 2024 who helped Spurs win the Europa League the following year, delivered when his side needed him most despite a relatively quiet start to the new season.

The North West clash added another chapter to a long-standing rivalry between the two clubs.

While United will feel frustrated at failing to close out the win against reduced opposition, Tottenham will take heart from their resilience and the character shown after the red card.
