Manchester United midfielder, Youri Tielemans has insisted the players must share the blame for the club’s recent poor form, saying it is “not only down to the manager.”
In an interview on Friday, Tielemans said, “It’s not only down to the manager. It’s our responsibility too. Hopefully, we will come out stronger than last week. I think last week was a very negative week for us as players, for the club, with two defeats. We want to make things right.”
The Belgian’s remarks come amid a difficult start to the 2026-27 season for United.
The team sits 16th in the Premier League after winning just one of their opening eight league matches.
Recent results include a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth and a heavy 4-1 Champions League loss to Como, extending a lengthy winless run.
Michael Carrick remains in charge after the club’s board opted against a managerial change despite growing pressure and internal tensions, including public criticism from some players.
Tielemans, who joined United from Aston Villa in the summer in a deal reported around £35 million, has himself faced scrutiny for inconsistent performances.
