Tinubu appoints principal officers for FUMMS Abeokuta, FCE Yauri

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of principal officers for the newly established Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, Kebbi State.
The appointments are aimed at ensuring strong leadership and academic excellence in both institutions.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga made the latest appointments known in a statement on Tuesday.
Leading the team at the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta, is Professor Fatiu Abiola Arogundade, who has been appointed as the institution’s first Vice Chancellor.
Arogundade, a professor of medicine at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, is a distinguished nephrologist and an academic administrator with over 33 years of experience in teaching, research, and administration.
He is a Fellow of the International Society of Nephrology and has led major research initiatives, securing substantial grants between 2012 and 2023.
Other appointments at the college include Dr Obayomi Olukayode Gregory, who is now the Registrar; Mrs Adedokun Omolola Olufunso is Bursar; and Dr Idiat Odunola Agboola is University Librarian.
Dr. Gregory, formerly Deputy Registrar at the National Mathematical Centre, Abuja, brings vast experience in academic administration.
Mrs Olufunso, a chartered accountant, previously served as Deputy Bursar at Obafemi Awolowo University.

Dr Agboola, an Associate Professor of Library Science, has been a key figure in academic resource management at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
Tinubu thereby urged the newly appointed officers to provide visionary leadership and establish a strong foundation for the institution.
He expressed confidence that their collective expertise would position the university as a hub for world-class medical education and research.
At the Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, Kebbi State, President Tinubu appointed Professor Sa’adu Umar as Provost.
A professor of Agricultural Extension and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) at Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, Umar is recognized for his contributions to educational development and academic leadership.
Other appointments at the college include Mr. Abdullahi Ahmed as Registrar; Dr Muhammad Yusuf Alkali as Bursar; and Mrs. Maimuna Mohammed Ahmed as Librarian.
Mr Ahmed, who previously served as Deputy Registrar at Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, brings extensive administrative experience.
Dr Alkali, a former Dean of the School of Accountancy and Finance at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, and Mrs. Ahmed, College Librarian at Niger State College of Nursing Sciences, Minna, complete the leadership team.
The appointments at Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, come with five-year non-renewable tenures, as stipulated by the Federal Colleges of Education Act, 2023.
The institution, established by an Act of the National Assembly, is dedicated to training educators in technology, applied sciences, social sciences, humanities, and management disciplines.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and ensuring that these institutions fulfill their mandates in producing highly skilled professionals.
