President Bola Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle in the Federal Executive Council (FEC), with Finance Minister Wale Edun and Housing Minister Ahmed Musa Dangiwa stepping down.

This was made known in a statement obtained from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The announcement, signed by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to SGF Senator George Akume, detailed the changes in a memo on Tuesday.

Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, has been directed to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, his former Minister of State.

Oyedele now assumes the full role as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

In the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqha Rabe Darma (PhD) has been named as the ministerial nominee and minister designate, with Dangiwa instructed to hand over to the current Minister of State.

“All handing over and taking over processes should be completed on or before close of business on Thursday 23rd April, 2026,” the memo stated.

Explaining the rationale, Akume said, “These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians, through the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He added that the President has exercised powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Tinubu thanked the outgoing ministers for their service and assured cabinet members of ongoing reinvigoration, noting, “the process of reinvigoration shall be continuous.”

The reshuffle comes amid efforts to bolster economic governance under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
