Tinubu mourns death of former Minister Amaechi’s mother

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi, the mother of former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.

Dame Ezinne Amaechi died at the age of 89.

In a statement on Friday, the President highlighted her strong Catholic faith, dedication to family values, and role in raising children committed to public service.

According to the State House press release issued by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi. President Tinubu acknowledges the deceased’s commitment to the Catholic faith, her exemplary devotion to family values, and her dedication to raising children of service.”

The President further noted the virtues that defined her life, “The President also notes that the late matriarch’s life reflected the virtues of love, sacrifice, kindness, and perseverance, qualities that endeared her to all who came in contact with her.”

Tinubu urged the bereaved family to find comfort in her lasting legacy and offered his condolences, “My heartfelt condolences to Amaechi, the entire Amaechi family, the Catholic faithful, and the government and people of Rivers State over the loss of Dame Ezinne Amaechi, a champion of faith whose life was marked by humility and selfless service to humanity.

“May Almighty God grant her soul eternal rest and comfort all who mourn her passing at this difficult time.”
