President Bola Tinubu has vowed to accelerate the modernisation of Nigeria’s armed forces by deploying emerging technologies and boosting personnel capacity to tackle contemporary security threats.

This was made known in a statement on Monday by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media & Communications
(Office of The Vice President).

Speaking at the Nigerian Army Day/ African Land Forces Forum grand finale in Port Harcourt, Tinubu — represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima — said, “My administration is firmly committed to countering contemporary threats through the adoption of emerging technologies and the building of capacity across all battle spaces, thereby improving operational planning and combat readiness.”

He urged focused research and the revitalisation of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria to stimulate local production of military hardware and create skilled jobs, saying the aim is to build “the confidence that flows from a nation able to arm itself.”

Tinubu praised the armed forces as “a model of selfless service” and promised that soldiers who died defending Nigeria “will not be in vain, and their families will not be forgotten.”
