Tinubu, Shettima lead APC Presidential Campaign Council as Yari named DG

President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima have been named chairman and vice chairman respectively of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the January 2027 election.
The council’s list, released on Saturday, also named former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as director-general, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma will serve as secretary.
APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, was appointed vice chairman of the council.
Senator Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as deputy secretary and assistant secretary respectively.
Tinubu, as chairman of the council, will be supported by an advisory body comprising Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were named deputy director-generals for campaign operations in the South and North.
They will work alongside Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator Jibrin Barau.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole was appointed deputy director-general for mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will serve as deputy director-general for administration.
James Faleke, who played a key role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, will return as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination, and monitoring.
His team will include zonal directors led by Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South and Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East.
Others are Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.
The legal directorate will be headed by Muiz Adeyemi Banire, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies.
Other members include Attorney-General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.
Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris Malagi was appointed coordinating director for media and strategic communication.
He will work with Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu, while Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka were named coordinating deputy directors.
Dele Alake will lead a five-member team of campaign spokespersons, alongside Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu, and Adamu Fanda.
Tinubu charged members of the council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 presidential election, urging directorate heads to bring in more party members for the campaign.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress.
“We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians,” said Tinubu.
The President said the party had “many achievements to trumpet” as the campaign season approaches, adding, “Let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation.”
He further urged APC leaders and supporters to “soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards.”
