President Bola Tinubu has approved the 2026 Appropriation Bill, totaling ₦68.32 trillion, while extending the 2025 budget’s implementation to June 30.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced this in a statement on Friday.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assented to the 2026 Appropriation Bill, which provides for an aggregate expenditure of ₦68.32 trillion,” Onanuga announced.

Key allocations include ₦4.799 trillion for statutory transfers, ₦15.8 trillion for debt service, ₦15.4 trillion for recurrent expenditure, and ₦32.2 trillion for capital projects—about 50% of the budget.

Onanuga noted the budget “underscores the administration’s continued commitment to economic stability, national security, infrastructure development, and inclusive growth.”

The President also signed an amendment extending the 2025 capital projects to June 30, ensuring “full and effective utilisation of appropriated funds” for ongoing infrastructure.

Tinubu directed ministries to prioritise transparency and timely delivery, praising the National Assembly for its cooperation.
