In a major blow to terrorist networks, troops from the Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA have eliminated several high-profile terrorists during a targeted operation in Zamfara State.

The successful raid, carried out on May 10, 2026, targeted a gathering of “notorious terrorist leaders and commanders from across the West African sub-region” at a concealed building in Tumfa Village, Shinkafi Local Government Area, according to a statement obtained Monday by Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the operation’s Media Information Officer.

Intelligence pinpointed the site on the northern outskirts of the village, hidden in a “densely vegetated area, shielded by thick mango trees along a stream channel.”

The terrorists had assembled to “coordinate attacks and criminal activities targeting innocent communities in the North West region.”

Sector 2 troops, backed by the Air Component, unleashed a precision airstrike that “successfully destroyed the structure” serving as their meeting point.

A Battle Damage Assessment confirmed “several terrorists were neutralized,” with survivors fleeing in disarray.

Ongoing ground operations continue to hunt down escaping elements, as “further aerial surveillance and intelligence revealed movements of suspected terrorist associates attempting to evacuate casualties.”

The Theatre Command vowed to maintain “unwavering commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements,” while urging the public to provide “timely and credible information” to support security efforts.
