Troops, Police rescue 20 after gun battle with bandits

The Nigerian Army troops of 6 Brigade on Saturday night rescued 20 kidnapped victims along the Takum/Mararaba Road in Taraba State after engaging the abductors in a gun battle, as revealed in a report obtained on Saturday, from the Security Analyst, Counter Insurgency Expert on Lake-Chad, West Africa, Zagazola Makama.

According to the report, the operation, around 9:50 p.m. following credible intelligence about a kidnapping incident at Muji town.

The troops supporter by a team of 67 Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel stationed at Samta, swiftly mobilised and confront the kidnappers.

During the ensuing gun duel, the armed criminals, devastated by the superior firepower of the security forces, abandoned the victims and fled into the forest.

Among those rescued were Yakubu Usman of Angwan Abuja and Godwin Peter of Angwan Dadin Kowa, who sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The troops also recovered vehicles abandoned at the scene.
