Troops rescue kidnapped victims, arrest terrorist logistics suppliers

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have achieved significant successes against terrorists in Nigeria’s North West region, rescuing kidnapped victims, disrupting a planned abduction, and intercepting logistics supplies.

This was made known in a statement on Tuesday by Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer.

According to a statement from the Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the operations took place on 19 and 20 July 2026 across Zamfara, Katsina, and Kebbi States.

On 20 July, troops responded to a distress call in Shiyan Abiyola, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, “The prompt intervention of the troops forced the terrorists to abandon the operation and flee, leading to the successful rescue of several residents.”

On 19 July in Katsina State, troops rescued three victims who had escaped their captors, “The victims, who were abducted on 14 July 2026 while working on their farms in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, were subsequently handed over to the appropriate authorities for reunification with their families.”

In a separate operation in Kebbi State on the same day, troops intercepted a vehicle with ten motorcycles suspected to be destined for terrorists and arrested four suspects.

“Preliminary investigations led to the arrest of four additional suspects believed to have been sent to receive the motorcycles on behalf of a known terrorist collaborator. The suspects and recovered motorcycles remain in custody for further investigation and necessary action,” it added.

The Theatre Command praised the troops’ efforts and called for continued public support, “The Theatre Command commends the troops for their vigilance, professionalism and swift response in denying terrorists freedom of action. We also appreciate members of the public for their continued support and timely provision of credible information.”
