Nigerian chess master and education advocate, Tunde Onakoya has set his sights on a groundbreaking feat, breaking the newly established 61-hour chess marathon record by two Norwegian players.

Announcing his ambitious plan, Onakoya on his official X (formally Twitter), declares, “On the 17th of April, we will attempt to break that record and set a new one for 70 hours”.

This challenge is part of Onakoya’s larger mission to inspire global change and raise support for building the largest free school for homeless children in Nigeria.

“My dream is to inspire the world and raise support to build the biggest free school for homeless children in Nigeria,” he said.

Known for his previous Guinness World Record achievement of playing chess nonstop for 60 hours, Onakoya continues to use his platform to champion education for underprivileged children through his initiative, Chess in Slums Africa.
