United States President Donald Trump has asserted that the United States holds “a thousand‑year supply of gasoline” and claimed the country outstrips China in oil reserves.
The claim, he said is further strengthened by renewed cooperation with Venezuela.
“We have a thousand‑year supply of gasoline, China doesn’t. We have more oil. Now, when you add Venezuela to it, we really have more oil,” Trump said during economic policy speech in which he emphasized U.S. energy security and described growing ties with the post‑Maduro Venezuelan government as a boost to American oil production.
