Video: Hakimi reveals long-standing financial arrangement with mother

Moroccan football star, Achraf Hakimi has opened up about his unique money management setup, stating that his mother has controlled his substantial earnings from the start of his professional career.
“Since I was young, I earned so much from football. When I was 18, I couldn’t open a bank account, so my mum was the one who controlled everything. When I became successful, I just left it that way,” Hakimi said in a recent interview.
The Paris Saint-Germain defender emphasised deep family trust as the foundation, noting his mother’s role as his pillar and the only person who would love him regardless of wealth.
This arrangement, in place since his Real Madrid youth days, predates his 2023 divorce and was never intended as a shield against it.
The setup has benefited Hakimi significantly by allowing him to focus entirely on his football career without financial distractions.
During his high-profile divorce from actress Hiba Abouk, courts found most assets including salary, properties, cars, and endorsements registered under his mother’s name, resulting in no large settlement payout and preserving his estimated $70+ million fortune intact.
