Hezbollah’s deputy leader Sheikh Naim Qassem has rejected ongoing Lebanon-Israel talks as demands for surrender, pledging resistance “till the very last breath” amid the conflict that erupted on March 2.

In a video clip, Qassem notes, “There are only two ways. Either we confront the aggression and this war, or surrender — because that’s what they’re asking for. They ask us to surrender but we won’t.”.

He urged Lebanon’s government to scrap planned Washington negotiations, calling them futile pressure to disarm Hezbollah while Israeli forces remain in southern Lebanon.

“We decided we won’t. Whoever wants to surrender, they do this on their own. But we will not surrender — even if we have to stay till the very last breath,” Qassem said.

This emphasises Hezbollah’s stance linking its armed resistance to Lebanon’s sovereignty, derailing US-mediated diplomacy between Beirut and Jerusalem.

“Lebanon will not surrender. Lebanon won’t back down,” he added.
