United States President Donald Trump has claimed that Israel’s continued existence today rests on his personal support and interventions.

In an interview on Wednesday, he claimed that in his view, Israel “probably would have been the first one to get hit” without his actions.

“That pertains to Israel because they probably would have been the first one to get hit,” Trump said.

“I’ll tell you what, if it wasn’t for me, there would be no Israel right now.”

Trump did not provide new documentary evidence in the remarks to substantiate the sweeping assertion, instead pointing to his past policies and moves—such as his administration’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, his administration’s strong rhetoric on Iran, and the 2020 Abraham Accords normalising relations between Israel and several Arab states—as examples of steps he says strengthened Israel’s position.
