Iranian air defense batteries sprang into action across parts of the capital late Thursday, Dailyeconomy gathered, heightening fears of renewed escalation in the four-month-old conflict with the US and Israel.

Iran news agency confirmed the activations, describing them as a precautionary measure amid persistent aerial threats.

No explosions or interceptions were immediately reported, and the Iranian military provided no further details.

The alert comes during a tenuous ceasefire in the 2026 Iran war, which erupted on February 28 with massive US-Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian air defenses, missile facilities, and high-level leadership—including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran responded with waves of retaliatory missile and drone barrages over subsequent months, stretching the conflict into a grinding standoff.

Tensions remain sky-high, fueled by Israel’s recent operations in southern Lebanon, stalled nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran, and a string of maritime clashes in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian officials have repeatedly vowed a “crushing response” to further aggression, while US and Israeli forces maintain heightened readiness in the region.

The UN Security Council is scheduled to convene an emergency session on the developments on Friday.
