Iran’s air defenses downed an “enemy” reconnaissance drone over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz overnight, state-linked Fars News Agency reported Wednesday, releasing the first footage of the wreckage as proof.

The grainy video, shared by Fars, captures Iranian personnel recovering a damaged gray cylindrical drone body—complete with fins, burn marks, and structural tears—from near the water’s edge.

Operators load the debris onto boats and military vehicles under dim lighting, highlighting the drone’s scorched remnants as evidence of a precise interception.

The incident escalates simmering US-Iran tensions in the Gulf, a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments.

Recent weeks have seen reciprocal actions, including drone interceptions, missile launches, and boat confrontations between the rival powers.

Iranian officials described the drone as an intrusive spy craft violating sovereign airspace, vowing continued vigilance.
