Iranian state-affiliated media released footage showing a Shahed-series kamikaze drone adorned with a poster featuring Spanish football sensation Lamine Yamal, ahead of what was described as a strike on US military positions in the region.
The video depicts the poster on the drone’s fuselage, showing Yamal holding a Palestinian flag, with multilingual text reading variations of “Supporters of Palestine and Iran are world champions.”
The imagery draws from Yamal’s recent viral moment during Spain’s title celebrations, where he was associated with pro-Palestinian gestures.
Iranian outlets framed the act as a symbolic show of solidarity linking football victory, the Palestinian cause, and resistance against US presence in the Gulf.
The drone was reportedly launched toward “enemy positions,” consistent with ongoing Iranian drone and missile operations against US-linked sites in countries like Bahrain amid heightened regional tensions.
Lamine Yamal, the teenage Barcelona and Spain winger, rose to global stardom during Spain’s successful 2026 World Cup campaign.
He has become a cultural icon, with sponsorships from major brands and widespread appeal.
