CD Tenerife forward, Jesús de Miguel Alameda has died at the age of 30 following a cardiac arrest suffered during a Spanish second-division match.
The club confirmed the tragic news on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, stating that De Miguel passed away at 8:00 a.m. local time at the University Hospital of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
In an emotional statement, CD Tenerife said, “Racked with pain, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe that this is true, we communicate the tragic passing of Jesús de Miguel Alameda. There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing that can alleviate this feeling overflowing with sadness. We stand alongside his devastated family.”
The incident occurred in stoppage time of Monday’s LaLiga Hypermotion match between CD Tenerife and FC Andorra at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium.
With the score at 2-2, De Miguel chased a long ball near the halfway line when Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono rushed out of his area and collided with him, striking the striker in the chest with his knee.
De Miguel collapsed motionless on the pitch.
Medical staff treated him for several minutes before he was stretchered off and taken to hospital by ambulance.
He suffered a cardiac arrest and was resuscitated en route.
The match was abandoned.
Tenerife initially reported his condition as “stable within the severity.”
Early on Tuesday, the club updated that his medical situation had “worsened neurologically” before confirming his death hours later.
Owono was shown a straight red card for the challenge.
Born in Madrid on September 21, 1996, Jesús de Miguel often known as “Demi” was a hardworking target man known for his physical presence, hold-up play, and aerial ability.
He came through the youth ranks at clubs including Leganés and built his career largely outside the spotlight.
He enjoyed success at Unionistas and especially at Castellón, where he scored 16 goals and provided six assists in the 2023-24 season to help the club earn promotion to the Segunda División.
In July 2025 he joined CD Tenerife on a three-year deal and became an important part of the side that secured promotion back to the second tier, contributing 11 goals.
Clubs across Spanish football, including Barcelona and Real Madrid, have paid tribute, expressing condolences to his family, teammates, and CD Tenerife.
The football world mourns the loss of a dedicated professional whose career was defined by perseverance.
Thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, teammates, and the entire CD Tenerife community during this devastating time.
