President Bola Tinubu has struck a defiant tone at an interfaith iftar with governors on Tuesday evening, acknowledging a barrage of public complaints while insisting Nigeria has emerged from its economic woes.
In a video clip, Tinubu states, “A lot of complaints and commendations are coming from all angles, they come at me too. But as long as we brace together and hold together, I am determined to rescue this country. The best is yet to come to Nigeria. We’re out of the woods, we’re out of the dark tunnel of uncertainty.”
The president’s optimistic remarks came amid ongoing hardships, including inflation soaring above 30% and persistent insecurity.
These stem largely from his administration’s bold 2023 reforms, such as the fuel subsidy removal, which triggered sharp spikes in living costs and widespread discontent.
Tinubu’s address, delivered during the holy month of Ramadan, urged unity as governors and religious leaders broke fast together.
