United States President, Donald Trump has departed the White House on Tuesday, for a state visit to Beijing, setting off on a high-stakes historic trip to America’s top adversary.
The three-day summit, scheduled for May 13 to 15, is the first U.S. presidential visit to China since 2017 and comes with a crowded agenda that includes trade tariffs, technology restrictions, Taiwan, fentanyl trafficking, and China’s role amid the Iran conflict.
Trump is traveling with about 16 U.S. business leaders, including Elon Musk and Tim Cook, as the administration seeks to secure economic agreements during meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The visit also includes symbolic events such as a tour of the Temple of Heaven.
