United States President Donald Trump has turned a Cabinet meeting at Camp David into a moment of levity, imitating the sound of Patriot missile interceptions as he described how the US military shot down five Iranian ballistic missiles over Jordan.
In a video clip from the session, Trump recalled the high-speed intercepts—missiles traveling at about 8,600 miles per hour and punctuated his account with repeated “bing, bing, bing” noises.
He then quipped that he was careful to say the right number of “bings” so he wouldn’t be compared to President Joe Biden, drawing laughter from the room.
“Bing, bing, bing, bing, bing. I don’t wanna be Biden. I had to be very careful. That would have been a great soundbite,”
“There were five missiles, and we shot all five down before they got close. Nobody else has that capacity,” Trump said.
The remarks came as Trump fielded a question on whether the US would allow Ukraine to manufacture Patriot interceptors under license; he stressed that Washington had not yet approved such a transfer, calling the technology “a hard thing to give away.”
