The suspects, who are undocumented migrants, were apprehended on Monday, August 25 after being caught on CCTV during a recent robbery.
The arrests were confirmed by Migrant Rescue Watch, an organisation that monitors migrant activities in the region.
The group in a statement said the two men had been under suspicion for a string of break-ins and robberies where the primary goal was to steal cash.
The police operation was launched after security footage from a convenience store showed the suspects in the act. This evidence led to their swift arrest.
The statement reads, “Police in Tripoli arrested 2 undocumented #migrants of Nigerian nationality responsible for series of break and entries and robberies.
“The accused were targeting commercial stores with the intent of seizing cash. The case was referred to public prosecutor.”
