Speaking at the Rainbow Coalition Presidential Campaign Rally held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Tinubu directly addressed the governor, “Fubara, you will not regret what you have done as long as all of us are alive.”
The president praised Fubara for showing “maturity, understanding, and respect for the wisdom of elders” during efforts to resolve the disagreement with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
Tinubu described the earlier conflict as “a misunderstanding in the family” and noted that he had personally intervened on Fubara’s behalf.
The remarks came during a high-profile campaign event as Tinubu seeks support for his 2027 re-election bid.
Earlier at the same rally, Fubara pledged that Rivers State would deliver no fewer than three million votes for the president.
He declared that political divisions in the state were over and that leaders were now speaking with one voice in support of Tinubu under the Rainbow Coalition, an alliance involving figures from both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“Rivers will give you three million votes. We will stand by you, work for you and deliver for you,” Fubara said.
He credited the arrangement to Wike’s political leadership and urged supporters to mobilise at the grassroots level.
Dailyeconomy had earlier reported that the political crisis in Rivers State erupted after Fubara, who was backed by Wike his predecessor and political godfather to become governor in 2023, clashed with Wike and pro-Wike lawmakers.
The dispute involved control of the state House of Assembly, governance, and political influence, leading to months of tension, legislative disruptions, and national attention.
President Tinubu’s intervention helped broker a reconciliation that brought the two sides back together.
As part of the political understanding, Fubara has aligned with the Rainbow Coalition supporting Tinubu’s re-election.
Fubara is not seeking a second term under the arrangement.
