The Waziri of Bauchi, Mohammed Kari, has mourned the passing of former President of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), Barrister Rotimi Edu, describing him as “a leader with a big heart.”

In a condolence letter dated May 19, 2026, addressed to the President and members of the NCRIB family, Kari said Edu’s contribution to the professional community would remain unforgettable.

According to the letter titled, “In Loving Memory of Barrister Rotimi Edu: A Leader with a Big Heart,” Kari stated that Edu brought “life, intellect, and grace” to the insurance industry and remained active despite recent medical challenges.

He noted that Edu’s tenure as the 21st President of the NCRIB was defined by his “Broker-Centric” vision, adding that beyond his policies, his personality left an indelible mark on colleagues and associates.

“Rotimi walked into every room with a distinct aura of dignity, blending the sharp mind of a seasoned lawyer with the strategic brilliance of a master insurer,” Kari wrote.

He also highlighted Edu’s achievements, including his prestigious “mni” designation, while describing him as accessible, humble and loyal to colleagues and friends.

Kari further praised Edu’s dedication to mentoring younger insurance brokers and his unwavering commitment to the growth of the NCRIB.

“Even when facing personal challenges, his commitment to the growth of the NCRIB never wavered. He gave his all to the Council, and his legacy is woven into the very fabric of the institution we see today,” he stated.

The Waziri concluded the tribute by praying for the repose of Edu’s soul and celebrating his enduring impact on the Council and the insurance profession.

“Rest well, dear friend and leader. You fought a good fight, you finished your course, and your impact will never be forgotten,” the letter read.
