Former Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernández has signaled his strong interest in stepping into international football management, citing the better work-life balance it would offer compared to the intense demands of club coaching.
In an interview reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Xavi expressed that coaching a national team aligns well with his personal priorities, particularly as a father of young children.
“My next step could be a National team. It would suit me and I want that,” Xavi said.
He elaborated on the family aspect, “I have family. A club wouldn’t allow me as much time with my family, I’ve got young children.”
Xavi also highlighted his ambition to compete on the biggest stages, “I’m keen to take part as a coach in a World Cup, EURO, AFCON, and an Asian Cup.”
The remarks come amid ongoing speculation about Xavi’s future after his time at Barcelona, positioning him as a potential candidate for various national teams seeking an experienced, tactically astute coach who values both competitive success and personal balance.
National team roles typically involve fewer matches and more focused preparation periods, which appears to be a key appeal for the Spanish icon.
