The Director of Media and Advocacy of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Femi Babafemi, has cautioned travellers against accepting or transporting packages with anonymous content.
Babafemi, in a post shared on X (formally Twitter) on Sunday, underscored that possession of illicit substances can result in a 15-year jail penalty.
The warning came after NDLEA discovered drugs concealed in Cerelac baby food tins and other items intended for smuggling to the UK and US.
However, he emphasised the importance of being vigilant about the contents of any package one approves to transport.
Babafemi wrote, “Not even tins of Cerelac baby food are spared in their desperation to conceal and export illicit drugs.
“The reason we warn people never to collect any package that you don’t know its content from anyone when travelling.
“Remember possession is 15 years in jail! Seizures by the NDLEA.”
Dailyeconomy has earlier reported that the NDLEA thwarted multiple drug shipments concealed in baby food containers, specifically Cerelac baby food and clothes, destined for the United States and the United Kingdom.
