56 equities gain as NGX All-Share Index rises 2.36% in one week

The NGX All-Share Index and Market Capitalisation appreciated by 2.36% and 2.40%, respectively, to close the week at 246,992.44 and ₦159.559 trillion.
Similarly, all other indices finished higher, with the exception of the NGX Industrial Goods and NGX Sovereign Bond indices, which depreciated by 0.35% and 0.36%, respectively.
Fifty-six (56) equities appreciated in price during the week, higher than the 24 equities recorded in the previous week. Thirty-five (35) equities depreciated in price, lower than the 55 recorded in the previous week, while 56 equities remained unchanged, compared with 68 in the previous week.
Figures obtained by Daily Economy from the Nigerian Exchange Group showed that the total turnover of 4.360 billion shares worth ₦210.331 billion was traded in 223,284 deals during the week, compared with 2.507 billion shares valued at ₦123.223 billion exchanged hands in 173,561 deals in the previous week.
The Financial Services Industry, measured by volume, led the activity chart with 3.580 billion shares valued at ₦88.635 billion traded in 99,488 deals, contributing 82.10% and 42.14% to the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.
The Consumer Goods Industry followed with 188.039 million shares worth ₦15.343 billion traded in 24,518 deals. The Services Industry ranked third, with a turnover of 142.292 million shares worth ₦2.020 billion in 14,007 deals.
Trading in the top three equities by volume — Fortis Global Insurance Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc and Access Holdings Plc — accounted for 2.287 billion shares worth ₦35.232 billion in 20,975 deals. The three equities contributed 52.46% and 16.75% to the total equity turnover volume and value, respectively.
