The All Progressives Congress (APC) has revised and expanded President Bola Tinubu’s presidential campaign council for the 2027 general election, bringing in prominent politicians from other parties as state coordinators.
According to a the new list obtained on Tuesday, “Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun; and Chukwuma Soludo, governor of Anambra; have been included in the expanded presidential campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election.”
In the new list, which President Tinubu is scheduled to inaugurate on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Wike was named coordinator of the party’s campaign in Rivers State and the FCT.
Soludo was appointed coordinator for Anambra, while Adeleke will coordinate activities in Osun.
Wike remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Soludo was re-elected for a second term in November 2025 on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Adeleke secured his re-election in August 2026 under the Accord Party.
The appointments form part of a broader revision of an earlier campaign council list released on 22 August.
Senator Abdulaziz Yari retains the role of Director-General. All 32 APC governors have been named campaign coordinators for their respective states, with additional roles assigned to other governors, ministers, lawmakers and party figures.
Wike, a former Rivers governor, has been one of Tinubu’s most influential allies outside the APC since the 2023 election, even while remaining in the PDP.
His appointment as coordinator for both Rivers and the FCT underscores his continued political weight in the South-South and the capital.
Adeleke’s role follows his recent re-election in Osun on the Accord ticket and earlier signals of support for Tinubu.
Soludo’s inclusion aligns with APGA’s reported position of backing Tinubu at the presidential level while maintaining its distinct identity for other contests.
INEC opened the official campaign period for the presidential and National Assembly elections on 19 August 2026.
The window runs until 14 January 2027.
Major contenders expected to challenge Tinubu include former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.
