Arokodare breaks silence after training session cancelled over transfer dispute

Wolverhampton Wanderers forward, Tolu Arokodare has defended his professionalism amid reports that his refusal to leave a training session forced the club to cancel it.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the 25-year-old Nigeria international expressed surprise and disappointment at “inaccurate” media reports.

He emphasised his commitment to high training standards and stated his intention to fulfill his contract with Wolves by training and contributing to the team.

Arokodare joined Wolves from Belgian club Genk in a £24 million deal in summer 2025.

He struggled in the Premier League, scoring just three goals as the club finished bottom and were relegated to the Championship.

This summer, Wolves have been keen to move him on after accepting a loan offer from Turkish side Trabzonspor (which the player reportedly rejected) and rejecting a bid from Italy’s Fiorentina.

The Nigerian forward has been linked with several clubs, preferring a move to Serie A.

The latest incident reportedly occurred on Monday when Arokodare refused to leave the first-team training pitch despite instructions, leading new head coach Cesar Peixoto to cancel the session.

Extra security was later brought in, and the striker was omitted from Wolves’ pre-season friendly against Maidenhead United.

This is not the first disciplinary issue for Arokodare at Molineux; he faced action in April following a dressing-room confrontation with a teammate.

The situation highlights ongoing tensions as Wolves rebuild in the Championship, with the club looking to offload players while Arokodare asserts his contractual rights and desire for regular playing time elsewhere.
