Chelsea’s Joao Pedro signs new contract until 2034

Chelsea has announced that Brazilian forward Joao Pedro0 has signed a new long-term contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2034.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Blues from Brighton and Hove Albion in a £55 million deal in July 2025, has been rewarded after an outstanding first full campaign in west London.

Joao Pedro scored 20 goals in all competitions during the 2025/26 season and was voted Chelsea’s Player of the Season by supporters.

“Chelsea is delighted to announce that Joao Pedro has signed a new contract until 2034,” the club said in a statement.

Joao Pedro made an immediate mark after his arrival, scoring in both the Club World Cup semi-final and final as Chelsea were crowned world champions.

He struck twice against former side Fluminense to send Chelsea into the final before finding the net in the victory over Paris Saint-Germain.

His form continued into the domestic campaign, with the Brazilian scoring Chelsea’s opening goal of the 2025/26 season away at West Ham United.

He also netted the decisive goal in an away win over Tottenham Hotspur and scored twice against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea added, “Joao Pedro continued to be decisive in his first full season as a Chelsea player. He netted 20 goals in all competitions and ended the 2025/26 campaign as our supporters’ Player of the Season.”

The forward, who will now wear Chelsea’s number 9 shirt, said he was proud to extend his stay and pledged his long-term commitment to the club.

“I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea.

“I always dreamed of playing for a big club, and it means a lot to me to give my long-term commitment to this club,” Joao Pedro said.

He added, “Chelsea has a long tradition of winning and it has big ambitions for the future. I have a very good relationship with everyone here at the club and I have felt at home here in London from the moment that I joined.”

Looking ahead, the Brazil international said the squad were ready to pursue further success.

“Everyone is very excited for this season. We know we can achieve a lot of things, we have a great team, we have a coach who wants to win and has won already.

“I am fully committed, everyone is ready and hopefully we can achieve our targets,” he added.

Chelsea supporters reacted positively to the announcement, hailing Joao Pedro’s impact in attack and welcoming the club’s decision to secure the striker’s future on a deal running until 2034.
