Travellers moving between destinations within Nigeria can face unexpected incidents, including accidents and the loss or theft of personal belongings. To provide financial protection against some of these risks, Cornerstone Insurance Plc offers a domestic travel insurance product designed to cover passengers during their journeys.

Known as Travel Safeguard, the policy is targeted at passengers travelling by road or air within Nigeria, providing compensation and other benefits in the event of specified travel-related incidents. The cover extends to passengers and, where applicable, their next of kin.

The policy provides compensation benefits to passengers or their next of kin in the unfortunate event of accidents during travel. It also covers the loss or theft of checked-in baggage, helping travellers manage the financial consequences of unexpected incidents.

Coverage begins when the passenger boards at the departure point and ends upon arrival and disembarkation at the destination, with protection limited to the stated travel period.

Travel Safeguard comes in different packages designed to meet varying travel needs. For road journeys, customers can choose from the Essential, Gold and Platinum packages, while air travellers have access to Compact, Essential, Gold and Platinum options.

Each package has its own coverage limits, giving individuals and groups the flexibility to select protection based on their travel requirements.

The policy is available for single trips, return trips and annual multiple trips, making it suitable for both occasional travellers and those who travel frequently within the country.

Among the benefits provided are cash compensation for accidental medical expenses, loss or theft of checked-in baggage and death benefits payable to the next of kin where a passenger dies as a result of a covered accident.

The policy also provides financial support towards the transportation of mortal remains where applicable.

According to Cornerstone Insurance, customers can purchase Travel Safeguard through an online application process. Applicants are required to complete the relevant form and make payment using a debit card or bank transfer.
