Real Madrid goalie, Thibaut Courtois has claimed that Real Madrid’s policy is to offer only one‑year contract renewals to players after they turn 30.
Courtois in an interview noted that he is “quite relaxed” about his future at the club.
“My future? At Real Madrid, once you’re 30 years old, you only get one‑year renewals. So I’m quite relaxed about it.
“If I continue performing as I have been, a renewal won’t be a problem,” Courtois.
The goalkeeper conceded the club must plan ahead, “But Real Madrid is a top‑level club and, at some point, they will have to think about my successor.”
Still, he voiced a personal wish, “For me, the ideal scenario would be to retire at Real Madrid.”
