EFCC warns fraudsters will end up “behind Bars”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has rolled out another episode of its ongoing public-education drive, #TheEagleSeries162, using a rhyming social media message to urge young Nigerians to channel their talents into legitimate hustles and shun cybercrime.

In a graphic post circulating on its official channels, the EFCC positions its “Eagle” as a supporter of “shining Stars” who earn honestly—whether in music, car dealing, restaurants, or other ventures—while warning that fraudsters will end up “behind Bars.”

The post reads, “Young and Legit are the real Superstars Some are good in music & spitting Bars Some are legitimate dealers in Cars Some are running restaurants and Bars The Eagle recognises all our shinning Stars But fraudsters will end up behind Bars”

The message fits into a broader EFCC strategy of using radio, social media, and youth-focused outreach to deter internet fraud and other economic crimes, as the commission repeatedly warns that “there is no shortcut to wealth and fame.”

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede has in several appearances charged youths to “channel their creative energies into productive and legitimate ventures rather than engaging in internet fraud,” stressing that “internet crimes are economic crimes and the penalties for them are stiff.”
