Ekiti kidnap survivours released after 57 days, victim dead

Five survivours of a kidnapping in Eda Oniyo town, Ekiti State, were freed after 57 days in the hands of bandits and are now receiving medical attention, police and witnesses said.

The command police spokesman said the victims appeared weak on release and were helped from a white van by officers and civilians before being taken to basic medical facilities.

“They are receiving urgent care and psychological support,” the spokesman added.

It was gathered that one victim died while in captivity.

Investigations are ongoing to trace the kidnappers and determine the circumstances of the fatality.
