The Federal Government has flagged off rehabilitation of the Bama‑Banki and Dikwa‑Gamboru‑Ngala roads in Borno State on Saturday.

A statement obtained from Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media & Communications (Office of The Vice President) called the works “strategic corridors for trade, agriculture, security access and post‑insurgency recovery.”

Vice‑President Kashim Shettima said the projects show the administration’s commitment to “restoring mobility, rebuilding economic confidence and reconnecting communities” and warned that “bad roads are also a security risk” because they hinder patrols and emergency response.

Governor Babagana Zulum and Minister of Works David Umahi pledged support, with Umahi noting the first phase costs have risen from about ₦55bn in 2021 to over ₦70bn and ₦67bn respectively.

Dangote pledged further private-sector backing, saying the roads will “boost connectivity in West Africa.”
