In a thrilling FA Cup third-round match, 10-man Manchester United eliminated Arsenal after a dramatic penalty shootout, winning 5-3 following a 1-1 draw.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring for United, but Diogo Dalot’s red card allowed Arsenal to equalise through Gabriel Magalhães.

However, despite dominating possession, Arsenal failed to convert their chances, with Altay Bayindir saving a dubiously awarded penalty from Martin Ødegaard.

Without the presence of VAR checking the penalty, the decision sparked heated confrontations between players, with Maguire accusing Havertz of simulation. The altercation resulted in yellow cards for Maguire, Gabriel Magalhães, and Havertz.

The penalty shootout saw Kai Havertz miss for Arsenal, allowing Joshua Zirkzee to secure United’s place in the next round.
