FIFA has announced a last-minute ban on fans bringing reusable water bottles into 2026 World Cup stadiums.
Fifa noted in a statement that the change is motivated by safety concerns despite expected high temperatures during the June–July tournament.
“Last-minute change, fans will not be allowed to bring their own water bottles to the 2026 World Cup,” FIFA World Cup HQ said in a statement on X.
The organisation added the measure was imposed “for security reasons.”
The announcement prompted immediate questions about fan comfort and heat management, with critics arguing the move could increase risks for spectators in hot conditions.
