A Nigerian domestic carrier, Rano Air, has announced on Friday the temporary suspension of several unspecified flight routes due to a staggering over 300% surge in Jet A1 aviation fuel costs, which have jumped from about ₦900 to ₦3,300 per litre.

In a statement on Friday, the airline explained the tough decision stressing, “Due to the unprecedented escalation in the cost of Jet A1 aviation fuel by over 300%, the operational cost of sustaining some of our routes has become extremely challenging and commercially unsustainable.”

The move, it added, comes amid “enormous pressure on our flight operations,” prompting a “difficult but necessary decision to suspend some of our routes temporarily.”

The announcement, which regrets the “inconvenience this may cause to our esteemed passengers and business partners,” assures affected travelers of support for refunds, rescheduling, or rerouting.

Contact options include email at customercare@ranoair.com and phone/WhatsApp lines: 09169844058, 09169844059, 09169844060, or 09169844061. Operations on suspended routes will resume “as soon as the situation improves and becomes operationally viable.”

This follows broader fuel price volatility battering Nigerian airlines, despite April 2026 government efforts to cap costs amid global market strains.

Rano Air reiterated its commitment, “We appreciate your understanding, patience, and continued support during this challenging period.”
