Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for 2027, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, has called on registered voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced nationwide distribution of the cards.

In a post on X, Hamzat wrote, “Your PVC is your voice, and I encourage every registered voter to collect their card and be ready to participate in the democratic process.

“From today, eligible voters who registered, transferred their polling units, or applied for a replacement PVC can make plans to collect their cards.

“Every vote matters. Let us take this responsibility seriously and continue to build a Lagos where every voice counts and every citizen has a stake in our future.”

He highlighted eligibility for those who registered, transferred their polling units, or sought replacements.

INEC announced that collection of newly printed PVCs would begin on 9 October 2026 across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The exercise follows Continuous Voter Registration phases that recorded more than 10.7 million applications.

In Lagos, collection is scheduled at Registration Area centres from 9–15 October (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), moving to Local Government Area offices from 16 October onward.

It covers new registrations, transfers, replacements, and information updates for those who registered between 2011 and 2025.

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other state leaders issued similar appeals on the same day, emphasising that possession of a PVC is required to vote.

Presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 2027, with governorship and state assembly polls to follow in February.

Voters are advised to confirm their designated collection centres via INEC platforms before visiting.
