Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held “constructive talks” Wednesday with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing, reaffirming Tehran’s commitment to sovereignty while endorsing a Chinese blueprint for Middle East stability.
In a statement posted in Chinese on social media, Araghchi said, “I held constructive talks in Beijing with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
“Both sides reaffirmed Iran’s right to safeguard national sovereignty and national dignity. The Iranian side appreciates the four-point proposal put forward by the Chinese side on upholding and promoting regional peace and stability.”
He added, “The Iranian side trusts the Chinese side and expects the Chinese side to continue playing a positive role in promoting peace and stopping war, and supports the establishment of a new post-war regional architecture that can coordinate development and security.”
The discussions mark the first high-level Iranian visit to China since the US-Israel-Iran war broke out in late February 2026, signaling Tehran’s push for international backing to end the conflict and reshape the region.
China’s four-point proposal, unveiled by President Xi Jinping in April, emphasises peaceful coexistence, respect for national sovereignty, adherence to international law, and a balance between development and security in the Middle East.
