Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has pushed back against recent derogatory language aimed at his country.

Araghchi in a statement on Wednesday noted that such insults do not erode Iran’s dignity and vowing that Iranians will respond with action rather than vulgarity.

“Addressing the Civilized and Courageous Nation of Iran with derogatory language does not diminish its Greatness,” Araghchi wrote, adding, “Iranians are known for their civility, culture, and strong moral values. We do not answer vulgarity with vulgarity, but with action: fearlessly and with great valor.”

Araghchi’s statement came after U.S. president Donald Trump described actors linked to Iran as “scum” and warned of further strikes, while declaring that the U.S.-Iran ceasefire is “over.”

The exchange has heightened tensions amid an already volatile security environment following recent U.S. and Israeli strikes and Iranian retaliatory actions, including confrontations and disputes in the Strait of Hormuz.
