The Kwara State Police Command has disclosed that the three officers recently dismissed over the murder of a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Quoyum Abdulyekeen, have been charged in court.
This was contained in a terse statement by Kwara police public relations officer, Ejire-Adeyemi Adetoun, on Friday.
She disclosed that the three officers, Abiodun Kayode, James Emmanuel and Oni Philip, face charges of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.
She wrote, “The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform the public that the three dismissed officers, Mr Abiodun Kayode, Mr James Emmanuel, and Mr Oni Philip, have been charged to court on 16th October 2024.
“They face charges of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide in connection with the death of Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola. They have been remanded in prison custody pending further court proceedings.”
Meanwhile, the updates came in after the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumiyiwa Adejobi advised Adetoun on Thursday, October 17, that it would be better if she unveiled the culprit’s faces.
Adejobi wrote under the post of the Imo State Police Command after unveiling the faces of their officers who were alleged for extortion, “Commendable. I hope other PPROs and commands will be naming and shaming those individuals who are out to rubbish the force.
“I hope KWARA command can name and release the pic of the dismissed policemen responsible for the killing of the student in Ilorin.”
