Makinde donates food, essential supplies to troops in Oriire

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has donated fresh food supplies and essential commodities to the military base in Oriire Local Government Area to support security operations in the region.

The gesture is aimed at boosting the morale of troops engaged in ongoing mop-up operations to restore peace and stability in the area.

The state government described the donation as part of its commitment to backing security agencies in tackling insecurity.

Makinde on Saturday visited the pupils and teachers who were rescued after more than 50 days in captivity in Oriire Local Government Area, and said the state government expects to reunite them with their families within the next 48 hours, Dailyeconomy reports.

The pupils and teachers were abducted on May 15, 2026, when gunmen attacked schools in Oriire.

They spent more than seven weeks in captivity before security operatives secured their freedom last Friday.
