Manchester United has made enquiries about Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha as the club continues to hunt for a new central midfielder, The Athletic reports.
The 25-year-old — who came through Manchester City’s academy during Jason Wilcox’s spell at the club is understood to be keen on a return to the Premier League.
United’s technical director, already familiar with Nmecha from his City days, has reportedly opened lines of communication as the club assesses options beyond their primary target.
United remain focused on signing Mateus Fernandes, but Tottenham Hotspur are pushing strongly and West Ham United are holding firm on a €100m valuation, prompting United to explore alternatives.
Alongside Nmecha, other names on United’s shortlist include Aurélien Tchouaméni, Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton, Alex Scott, and Sander Berge.
No offers have been confirmed, and talks are at an exploratory stage as United weigh cost, availability and squad fit ahead of potential summer business.
